"The Hello, Goodbye Window" by Norton Juster and Chris Raschka



This beautiful 2006 Caldecott winner is written in the voice of a little girl who spends her days with her grandparents while her parents are at work. The "hello/goodbye" window is in the kitchen and the girl sees the comings and goings of the world from it.

"Kitten's First Full Moon" by Kevin Henkes



This is an amusing book about the kitten's first experience of a full moon, which she thinks is a big bowl of milk. She tries hard to get it, but is unsuccessful in her attempts.

"Pompeii lost and found" by Mary Pope Osborne



This wonderful '08 Bloebonnet book is about the richest town in Rome, till AD 79, when it was struck with disaster. Pompeii was frozen for 1,500 years under the volcanic ash of Mt. Vesuvius. Archaeologists have recovered some buildings, found tools and even recovered some bodies and discovered the way of life of the people who were victims of that disaster. This is a dramatic book about the perish and rediscovery of Pompeii.
